CNN —Judge Juan Merchan has found former President Donald Trump in contempt for violating the gag order in his hush money trial for the 10th time and said he’ll consider jail time going forward. Last week, the judge fined Trump $9,000 for nine previous violations of the judge’s gag order. Violations of the gag order are punishable by a fine of up to $1,000, by jail time of up to 30 days, or both. In a statement, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung called the gag order “unconstitutional and un-American” and criticized the judge and his ruling. In a written ruling, the judge said those comments violated the gag order.

GRUENHEIDE, Germany (AP) — Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited the electric car maker's first European plant Wednesday as production resumed at the factory just outside Berlin about a week after a suspected arson attack cut its power supply. And a long-running drought means there isn’t enough water to make the amount of artificial snow needed to paint its slopes white. And with a lack of rain and record-breaking heatwaves, the lakes that normally provide water for artificial snow have run dry. Not only has that made mortgages much more expensive, it’s exacerbated the long-standing shortage in housing supply, particularly at the lower-priced part of the market. The market machinery that cranks out housing supply at the bottom of the market has effectively ground to a halt. But falling rates will not solve the underlying structural problems that caused the housing shortfall in the first place. Once rates normalize, housing affordability will simply return to where we were prior to the pandemic, going from dismal to just bad. Lawmakers should complement this support to increase the supply of housing with targeted help for those looking to buy their first home.
